Activities:

October 18, 2012 Meeting

Sherry Fields, Upstate Coordinator of Family Connections, was the guest speaker at the Belton Lions Club on Thursday evening, October 18, 2012.  Sherry explained that Family Connections is a statewide non-profit organization that serves children with special healthcare needs or disabilities.  She works mostly with those in Anderson, Greenville, Pickens and Spartanburg Counties.  The organization links families of the children with helpful resources, support and education whether it be for an upcoming surgery, developmental delays, premature birth, physical limitations, and all diagnoses including autism, asthma, ADHD, and cerebral palsy.

In other club business, Lion Richard Edwards announced the results of the recent Candy Day fund raiser that was held at various locations in Belton and Wal-Mart in Anderson.  A total of $2,254.30 was raised which includes the sale of brooms.  All profits from the Belton Lions Club fund raisers are spent only on charitable needs of Belton residents that mostly deal with sight preservation.  Three eye exams and eye glasses have been approved so far in October.

The Belton Lions Club meets every 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall at Latimer Memorial United Methodist Church.  Visitors and prospective men and women members are welcome.
