This
exhibition which will remain on display through January 10, 2004 features
handcrafted, functional and decorative wood objects by both the hobbyist and
the professional craftsman.
From
the retiree in his workshop to the young entrepreneur trying to preserve the
environment for his children and from a degree in furniture designer to a
grandfather who showed his love with the things he could make, these
craftspeople are as varied as the trees, but they all have one thing in
common: the love of wood. Some use modern tools, others prefer
more traditional instruments.
The
Product of their perspiration can be whimsical, functional, contoured,
married to the essence of the wood, or assembled to look "reach out and
touch it" real, and often phenomenal. The exhibit features turned
bowls and pens, scroll saw ornaments and music boxes, marquetry, rustic
furniture, wildlife carvings, and a life size 1937 Indian Motorcycle in a
class all by itself.
The Center is located at 300
North Main Street in Historic Downtown Belton, South Carolina. Gallery
Hours are Tuesday through Friday 10:00 am - 5:00 pm and Saturday from
10:00 am - 2:00 pm. If you have any questions about the Exhibition, you can contact BCA at 864 338-8556.
