2008 Class Schedule

The Belton Center for the Arts is a community arts center striving to
provide the greater Belton area with quality cultural programs and
educational opportunities in the creative arts.  The Center is located at
306 North Main Street in Historic Downtown Belton, South Carolina.
Gallery Hours are Wed-Friday 10:00 am-5:30 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.

The Belton Center for the Arts offers many exciting ways for the surrounding community to experience art and culture through events, trips, classes and workshops for all ages.  Whether you are a senior, child, or any age you can join your friends or make new ones while exploring your creative side at the Belton Center for the Arts.  Pre-registration for all activities is required!  To join the fun, call the BCA at (864) 338-8556 for more information or to obtain a registration form.

Capturing the Essence of Spring Flowers - Watercolor Workshop
Instructor:  JoAnne Anderson

April 26                                                           Saturday  (1 Day)
Time:  9:30 am - 4:30 pm        
Cost:  $65.00 members
           $75.00 nonmembers
All levels of experience
Class limited:  16 students
Discover the magical way that watercolor captures the amazing blooms of Spring.  Learn a variety of brushstrokes and special blending techniques unique to spring flowers.
Coming in June:  Capturing the Essence of the Rose.
 

Intensive Drawing Class    
Instructor:  Carlene Shuler Brown

May 12 & 19; June 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; July 7      Mondays  (8 Days)
Time:  9:30 am - 11:30 am        
Cost:  $150.00 members
           $175.00 nonmembers
Materials Needed:  pencil, ruler, gum eraser, newsprint pad and a drawing sketchpad (at least 11x14).
Unleash your creativity as you discover new methods of drawing.  Students will study drawing using perspective, designing negative space, sighting proportions, shading with light and shadow, and learning the differences in drawing using right and left brain techniques.  The class is designed for all skill levels, from beginner to advanced.  You will be amazed at how much better you will be able to draw!.

Ceramic Combo Class 
Instructor:  Kate Krause

May 20 & 27; June 3, 10, 17, 24; July 1 & 8     Tuesdays  (8 Days)
Time:  6:00 pm - 8:30 pm        
Cost:  $50 members
           $60 nonmembers
Class Limited:  6 students
Materials Needed:  pottery tool kit, a half-gallon bucket and a towel
Students will have the opportunity to try a combination of handbuilding and pottery wheel techniques in pursuit of a unique ceramic vision.  Handbuilding techniques include slabs, coils and press molds.  Pottery wheel techniques include centering and variety of methods used to create vessel forms.  Different glazing techniques will also be covered.  The class is designed for all skill levels, with an emphasis on individual instruction.  Class fee includes glaze and firing, clay may be purchased on site.

Private Lessons

Instructor:  Stephanie Smith

Work at your own pace in a variety of media with personalized assessment instruction.  Available for children and adults.

  • $25 for one hour of instruction, per person

  • $35 for up to 2 siblings

Enrollment is limited so register early.  Pre-registration and complete registration form is required for each person.
Age restrictions are necessary for the enjoyment and safety requirements of the students.  Students must meet the minimum requirements on or before the first class meeting.
BCA is not responsible for injuries that occur during classes.  Please use common sense and follow any safety instructions closely.
You may register for classes at The Belton Center for the Arts either by calling (864) 338-8655 or by coming to the gallery at 306 City Square, Belton 29627.
Make checks payable to the Belton Center for the Arts.  Registration can only be taken over the phone with Visa or MasterCard.
   
Cancellation Policy
   
BCA reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment or compelling circumstances.
Class cancellations will be announced one week prior to the first class meeting.
Class will be canceled one week prior to the first meeting date if enrollment is not met.
A prorated price is offered on most classes for those that cannot commit to an entire session.
   
Refund Policy
   
100% offered if class/workshop/event is cancelled.
100% offered until 1 week + 1 day prior to workshop or first class meeting.
