Old U.S. flags being retired on Dec. 1 at Belton American Legion

An official U.S. flag retirement ceremony is being held on Dec. 1, 2008 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion Building.  In case of rain the ceremony will be delayed until Jan. 5, 2009. 

Persons can drop off the old flags at the News-Chronicle office on the square, American Legion Post 51 building on Campbell Street or give the flags to any Legion member.

American Legion Post 51 in Belton offers a flag retirement service to the community.  This service is a dignified and proper way to dispose of old and/or tattered U.S. Flags.  It is not proper to dispose of these flags in any other way.

Anyone having an American Flag that needs to be disposed of may bring it to the American Legion Post 51 headquarters building on Campbell Street.
